Our clients had moved into this Victorian school house with ambitions to extend it in a contemporary style to create more space for their growing family. Tim is a furniture designer and maker and was keen to work with timber as the principle building material. The planning consent for the modern design in the centre of the conservation area was hard-won but succeeded in a result that satisfied our clients’ ambitions. The extension was pre-fabricated as a timber frame with all internal finishes, insulation, windows and cladding installed in a factory in Slovenia. Following groundworks carried out by a local firm the superstructure was erected in only 4 days.
